I love fall because it means cooler weather and the leaves are starting to change colors. Autumn is my favorite season because it means it is time to start making my family’s fall bucket list this year and start crafting those fun fall crafts with my kids.

We have a list of fall activities you can add to your family’s fall bucket list so that you and your family can enjoy time together at little to no money.

Fall Bucket List Ideas

Make Homemade Halloween Costumes

Are you looking to be the coolest family on the block this year with amazing Halloween costumes?

Then early fall is the best time to start on this project. If it is your child’s first halloween homemade costumes are adorable. Making your family’s costumes helps save money and gives the family something to do on the weekends together.

Go on a hike

Search out new trails for your family to try. Hiking can be an all-day event or just a quick 30-minute hike. As you hike, be sure to point out the color changing of the leaves and all things you see in nature.

 Visit a Farmer’s Market

This can be a routine activity on your family’s fall bucket list. Mark your calendar for when the Farmer’s Market is opened in your town.

Visit it frequently and let your kids see all the variety of fruits, vegetables, and other farm products that are available for purchase. Visiting a farmer’s market is not only fun; it can also be educational.

Make Caramel Apples

All kids no matter what age love helping in the kitchen. Gather up your ingredients needed to make dipped caramel apples and get busy. Once you have made your apples, you can add some unique ideas as toppings. Try drizzling chocolate on top, crushed pretzels, crushed pecans, or even sprinkles. Let your kids be creative and have some fun.

Sit by the fire

There is something about sitting by the fire on a cool night watching the embers burn. Sitting by the fire is a great item to add to your fall bucket list this year. Try roasting hot dogs, smores, and even making peach cobbler in a dutch oven can be a tasty fun treat.

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

Find a local farm that has farm picked pumpkins to stock up on. Pumpkins can be great fall decorations, or you can even carve and make tasty treats out of them. While at a pumpkin patch, be sure to see what other fun activities they have while visiting. My favorite activity I have done with my kids at a pumpkin patch is the petting zoo, especially when my kids were younger.

Attend a football game

The return of football season screams fall to me. Find when your favorite team will be near you and purchase tickets to go cheer on your team in person. Have fun and even plan to ail

Rake Leaves/Jump in the leaves

In order to have fun like jumping in the leaves you have to rake them all into a pile first! Gather up the kids and have some fun outdoors while also helping your home’s curb appeal—such a simple task for kids to do but a fun reward when they are done.

Pick Apples

Search your area for an apple orchard. Picking apples is such a fun thing to do. I love visiting the apple orchard near our home each season. Some have lots of activities you can spend a whole day there doing from picking apples, making apple butter, tasting apple treats from their bakery.

Carve Pumpkins

Make carving pumpkins fun this year by planning a family theme. We have done this with Harry Potter and each pumpkin was carved or painted something related to Harry Potter. If you are not into carving pumpkins and want to skip the mess, then painting pumpkins is just as fun and exciting for the kids.

Go Camping

Looking for a new adventure to add to your fall bucket list, then going camping is a wonderful weekend trip to take as a family. I love camping in the fall because it means cooler temperatures, less bugs and even fewer crowds.

Plan a day trip

If your schedule can not accommodate a weekend camping trip, then a day trip to see the fall foliage nearby can offer a very scenic drive and a fun-filled afternoon. Pack the car with snacks, games, and enjoy the ride.

Unplug for the day

Pick a day this fall and add unplug for the day to your fall bucket list. As you make a pact to get the whole family to turn off their devices, you can really take the day to enjoy the beautiful views fall has to offer.

Attend a Fall Festival

It is fun to explore and experience all things related to autumn. A fall festival is typically filled with all things fall-related from frood, crafts, music, and art that will be sure to catch your family’s interest all in one place.

Create a list of blessings

Gather your family together and take some time to reflect on things you are grateful for this year. You can save the list and read on Thanksgiving Day and see if any family member has anything else to add as a blessing. This is a great way to know what your kids are thankful for. You will be surprised by what they add to the list of blessings you started.

Bring a Pie to a Neighbor

You can purchase or make a homemade pie. It really does not matter. Being kind and spreading it in your neighborhood goes a long way. Your neighbor will appreciate it, and you may have even started a giving train of treats on your street!

Run a 5k

If you have older kids, this will be a great fall activity as a family. Pick a charity your family wants to support and sign up. Get active this fall and have some family time training and prepping for the 5k. You will really enjoy the time spent together while also staying active.

Now you have a great start on making your family’s fall bucket list this year. Have fun and make some great memories to last forever!
