Ten Little Shoes [The Breathable Toddler Shoes You’ll Both Love]

Toddlers are always on the go, which is why they need a good shoe to keep up with them! Our Rookie Mom Squad decided we needed to test out a couple of toddler shoes with our busy little ones. Ten Little Shoes are a popular choice among many moms, but more importantly (and you know how important this is if you’ve ever battled a toddler to put their shoes on) toddlers love them.

Ten Little Shoes Review

Rookie Mom Squad’s Karissa and her little guy tried out Ten Little Shoes and their conclusion is that every toddler needs at least one pair of these. Below is Karissa’s review, including what she loved about these toddler shoes and what she would change.

Here’s What I Loved About Them

Ten Little ReviewTen Little Review

They are breathable and lightweight.

I love that these shoes are made of breathable material while also still being strong enough to withstand rough play (a must-have with a rambunctious 2.5-year-old).

My son loved that he got to customize his shoes!

Ten Little Shoes come with weather-proof stickers, which means your little one gets to design their own shoes. My kiddo was SO excited. I’ve never seen him so happy to get a new pair of shoes! Because he loves them so much, it’s also a breeze to get him to put them on.

There are plenty of color options.

We tried out a pair of the Original style and I loved all the color options. There is also the Everyday Hightop style, which are a great option for colder winter days.

Finding the right size is easy.

Shopping online for shoes is typically tough, but with Ten Little’s online sizing guide it is actually pretty easy to find the right size.

The fabric wicked moisture right off.

My little guy had a similar pair by another brand – but these ones are nice because they aren’t a moisture-absorbing fabric. We have grass so every morning we’d go out to play and his old shoes would soak up all the water, but Ten Littles wicks it right off!

If I Could Change One Thing About Ten Little Shoes

I wish the removable soles stayed in place a tad bit better. Every time he takes his shoes off, the soles pop right out. Besides that, they are a total win in my book!

Make the Playroom of Your Dreams a Reality

Make the Playroom of Your Dreams a Reality

What does your dream playroom look like? Does it have a rock wall, monkey bars, or a special crafting zone? I am going to let you in on a little secret, Smart Playrooms can help make that dream a reality. They specialize in creating epic playrooms that are perfect for both play and learning. We had the chance to chat with the founder of Smart Playrooms, Karri Bowen-Poole, to learn a little bit more about how these special spaces are created.

Here’s What We Learned from the Smart Playroom Founder

Smart Playroom founderSmart Playroom founder

Can you tell us a little bit about Smart Playrooms and how they vary from the traditional playroom?

A Smart Playroom is an intentional child-focused playroom that engages children in open-ended creative thinking and play. Our playrooms combine interior design principles and functional organization systems with a complete understanding of child development.

How do Smart Playrooms incorporate play-based learning? Do you have a background with play-based learning that helped inspire you?

Smart PlayroomSmart Playroom

I founded Smart Playrooms over 10 years ago, prior to that I received my Master’s degree in Education, and spent years teaching in a classroom. Smart Playrooms incorporates all the research that has gone into classroom design and layout into a person’s home, understanding that the design and layout can help achieve desired outcomes.

How would I go about designing a Smart Playroom? Are there different options?

epic play space epic play space

We offer families on-site design in and around the NYC area and three tiers of Smart E-Designs (for families outside of our area) that are each customized to the children’s ages and interests. To get started, Smart Playrooms will send a client access to our client portal, where parents will be asked to fill out our online questionnaire. Our team will then create a playroom layout, 3D renderings, a shopping list, and the design details necessary for parents to implement the design on their own time.

What are some of the coolest features you have ever added to a Smart Playroom?

We have designed some amazing playrooms with so many amazing features. I think some of the coolest features that we have added include monkey bars that go right into a custom fort with a huge tube slide, a ceiling net that requires climbing our monkey bars and rock walls to access, an indoor zipline and playhouses and nooks with secret passages, mailboxes and creative lighting.

What physical, cognitive, and social emotional skills do you think play-based learning develops the most?

crafting zonecrafting zone

I believe that play based learning encourages natural curiosity, independence, creativity, imaginative play, problem solving skills and cooperative learning.

What are some suggestions for parents on how to use play and movement to reinforce academic learning?

It is through play that children learn to express thoughts, tell imaginative stories, use language to communicate, convey their thoughts, and explore their environment. Movement can literally turn on the brain, as exercise stimulates the prefrontal cortex which helps kids with organization, planning and concentration.

Acid Reflux is so miserable for both the baby and the parent. Our youngest struggled with acid reflux, and it made us go on an endless search to find the best formula for reflux. It was so hard to watch our little girl cry after having reflux. We are going to break down the signs of reflux and gas and how to deal with it to reduce your baby’s struggles with eating and your own stress! Lastly, we will take a look at the best formula for acid reflux in 2020

Best Formula for RefluxBest Formula for Reflux

What is Reflux

When my little Olivia was fussy all the time and spitting up like crazy, I did not understand what was going on. I mean this was my fifth kid, I should be able to figure it out. Well, after a visit to the pediatrician here is basically what I found out. She had reflux and reflux is basically caused when the valve connecting the esophagus and stomach doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to.

The valve doesn’t close correctly, so it allows both food and stomach juices to flow back up into your baby’s mouth, which is quite painful. This isn’t necessarily permanent because it’s often just a result of the esophagus not being fully developed yet. Most babies grow out of their reflux within a year…my little babies did not, but after a couple of years she had no more problems.

There are a few other reasons, besides the maturity of the esophagus, that can cause reflux. GERD is a bit more serious of a condition where the acid coming back up is damaging the lining of the esophagus and causing serious irritation. It also may be a food intolerance that’s increasing the reflux, cows milk being the most common of all.

Best Formula for Reflux

Dealing with infant reflux is by no means the end of the world, although somedays it feels like it. Sometimes it will just take a couple of little life changes to get everyone back on track and feeling good. One common change that often helps babies that have reflux is to change up their original formula, and while it may take a couple trial and error purchases I promise when you find the right one it will all be worth it.

Picking which formula is best for a baby with reflux can be a little overwhelming at first, but hopefully, this list will set you down the right path! Some of these can be pricey, so once you’ve found the right one for your baby I highly recommend buying in bulk.

Hypoallergenic Formulas for Reflux & Gerd

The hypoallergenic formulas do tend to be the most expensive, but if your child has any type of allergy towards formula, these are by far the best.

best baby formula for constipationbest baby formula for constipation

In many cases switching your baby to a hypoallergenic formula can really help reduce acid reflux symptoms. Here are the two best choices for hypoallergenic formulas. Many pediatricians recommend a hypoallergenic formula for GERD to help reduce the acid reflux symptoms.

This formula is truly hypoallergenic and made for babies who cannot have milk-based options or soy. An added bonus is that it will actually help your little one to possibly outgrow their allergy.

This formula says ready made, but that is a bit of a stretch. The formula needs to be refrigerated once it is opened so plan on warming up the bottle a bit if your baby doesn’t like a cold bottle.

But let me tell you, the main thing, is if you are dealing with acid reflux, all you care about is that this thing works, and from our moms tests and reviews across the web, it surely does.

Here is one of our favorite moms reviews.

“OMG, it works! No more, screaming, no more going through bottles of gas medicine, no more bouts of crying fits. Our baby was just a happy little 1.5 month old and we have been so grateful since then (he’s now 5 months).”

best organic formula for refluxbest organic formula for reflux

This formula actually comes directly from Europe. Many Americans now prefer European formulas due to their stricter guidelines. The Holle Goat Milk formula has no sugar, No wheat, soy, or peanut ingredients. It is also Free from artificial chemicals, preservatives, and flavors

So the ingredients in this bad boy are just a little bit complicated, but they are perfect for a baby who has lots of allergies and is having trouble with both regular milk-based options and soy.

Basically, it is pre-digested. It is more pricey but very similar to Nutramigen listed above.

I think the biggest downsides are the price, and it smells a little funky.

Reflux Specific Formulas

These formulas are created for one specific reason in mind. To help ease the reflux and they are definitely considered the best formula for reflux.

Best formula for reflux and gasBest formula for reflux and gas

Many parents rave about this formula being the best formula for reflux. It is made specifically to help with frequent spit-up. Enfimail AR is made to be easy on their bellies, but just think enough to help them keep it all down and get the nutrients they need. This formula is based on cow’s milk, which means you should be able to easily switch over from your current formula without causing too much disruption to their digestion.

Not every baby with reflux will need to switch to a soy-based formula, but for those who do Prosobee is an awesome option. It will keep your baby from being gassy, just make sure to watch for constipation as that can be a result of the soy intake.

Best Non-GMO Formulas for Acid Reflux

If you are looking to try something a little out of the box, we recommend trying the formulas from Organic’s Best. They make it possible to get some of the best formulas in the world, created in Europe where standards are extremely high, wherever you are! They carry a couple of different brands like Holle and HiPP that tend to work well for babies with sensitive stomachs.

organics best non gmo formulaorganics best non gmo formula

Through Organic’s Best you can find Goatmilk formula, palm oil & starch free options, and all without any GMOs.

This option is not completely lactose-free (so if lactose happens to be the problem this won’t be the one for you and your baby!), but it does have reduced levels of lactose. It also uses a special broken down protein blend, which makes it easy to digest. It is one of the only formulas that contain the full benefit of nutrients found in breastmilk. That’s probably why you have seen this formula mentioned on all the mommy discussion boards. It’s also rated a #1 option by pediatricians. You can take comfort in knowing you truly are not stripping your baby of any nutrients by feeding them Enfamil Gentlease.

Similac for RefluxSimilac for Reflux

Much like Enfamil AR, this is a cow milk-based pre-thickened formula. Being pre-thickened helps your baby to keep it all down, both filling their belly and getting them all their nutrients. It should be easy to switch your baby over to this as long as they were taking a cow milk-based formula previously.

You might take a little comfort in knowing that this is one of the most commonly used formulas in hospitals meaning it probably works pretty well, right? It’s a milk based formula but it contains no lactose, making it easy to digest. On top of that, it’s packed full of vitamins that are great for growth and development all while being easy to absorb. Going non-GMO is totally your own preference, but as it’s pretty common these days for people to want to avoid them this is a great way to do so.

This option contains lactose, so only try it out if you have not come to the conclusion of that being the cause. Some bacteria are actually good and your baby might need more. Gerber Good Start Soothe has some of this good stuff inside the formula. If this formula ends up working, your baby might not even actually have reflux and just need more L. reuteri, the good bacteria.

Maybe a goat milk formula is out of your comfort zone to feed your baby, but I say anything is worth a try if it will result in a healthier & happier little one. Goat’s milk is actually more similar to breast milk than cow’s milk in the way it is digested, meaning your baby’s tummy might just like it. Definitely, consult with your doctor about this one before giving it a try just because it is so different and may not be recommended for babies under 12 months.

Reflux Formula for soon to be toddlers

As your baby is on their way to being a toddler you might look for a formula to help the transition to baby food. Having a child with reflux does limit the options however here is our favorite choice.

This Formula is gentle on your baby’s stomach and great for if you are looking for a formula to transition to. NeuroPro is the only formula that has a fat-protein blend of MFGM & DHA, that supports brain development and was previously found only in breast milk.

What if I don’t want to switch my baby’s formula.

If you are hesitant to switch your child’s formula from what they are used to, you can just add a thickener like rice cereal or rice starch to their bottle. This may help them to keep their food down. Personally, this was a disaster for me so I would avoid this and skip right to trying one of the formulas above due to the possible messes and nipple struggle that it can entail but you do you, mama.

What are the Signs My Baby Has Acid Reflux

Best Hypoallergenic Formulas for RefluxBest Hypoallergenic Formulas for Reflux

There are a few telling signs that your baby may have infant reflux. Disclaimer, I am definitely not a doctor but if you’re feeling concerned about your baby make sure to call one! They can help you work through what’s normal and what might be causing these kinds of symptoms in your baby. Also, check out the Mayo Clinic, they have a great resource for acid reflux.

– Spitting up

Every baby spits up (like in your car, on your favorite shirt, and down your backs where you won’t notice), so obviously take this symptom with a grain of salt. It should only become a concern if it seems that the act of spitting up is causing them pain or coming up with a greenish or yellow liquid. Spitting up is also a concern if it continues to happen past 12 months after meals. My youngest daughter was terribly grumpy after she spit up because of the pain from spitting up.

– Grumpy during feedings

Sometimes our kiddos are just grumpy, but feeding time should generally be comforting and something they look forward to. If every feeding is a battle, there might be something going on that you should get checked out. If they have infant reflux, this grumpiness is a result of their tummies or throats being irritated.

– Refusal or Difficulty Eating

When your baby starts to associate the discomforts caused by reflux with eating, they may begin to refuse food entirely. Refusal of food for an extended period is always a cause for concern and you should contact your doctor.

– Failure to gain weight

Failure to gain weight is also tied in with difficulty eating. Another reason to immediately contact your pediatrician is if you notice your baby is not gaining weight and meeting the markers they should.

– Frequent Gagging/Choking

The stomach contents making their way back up to the mouth can cause some gagging and choking. If this is happening often, try to keep your baby upright during feeding and for a little bit of time afterward while they digest. Know it may be a sign of reflux if this happens frequently.

– Wet Hiccups

I know with this one you are probably like, “um, what?” but hiccups are not supposed to be wet and if they are it’s likely a sign of reflux causing food to come back up.

Hard time with a sleep routine

There are many things that can cause your baby difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, but if this is paired with some of these other symptoms their sleep troubles are likely related to infant reflux.

What Else Can I Do to ease the Acid Reflux?

Finding the best formula for reflux often will help your baby, but it still might not be the end of the story when it comes to reflux issues. In my case, the formula helped but my daughter needed a little more to help ease the pain. Here are some extra things to try;

  • More frequent feedings with a decreased amount of food
  • Burp them extra between every 2 or so ounces, they need your help with this
  • Hold your baby upright for 30 minutes to an hour after feeding
  • Put them to sleep on their back on a firm mattress, it may be tempting to put them at an incline or in a seat but you MUST ask your doctor about this first
  • Ask your doctor about possible medications to help with infant reflux
  • Find a newborn chiropractor, just make sure they are highly rated because this is a delicate practice
  • Rub their tummy in a clockwise motion to help relieve gas

Ring Sling

Rookie Mom, Karissa, says that her all-time favorite newborn item is a ring sling. She really loves the Nalakai Ring Sling because it’s just as high quality & comparable to some of the big expensive brands without the huge price tag.

The Nalakai Ring Sling also has:
• Lots of color options
• It is affordable
• Anne (the owner) has lots of how-to videos to help new mamas learn how to wrap their babies up safe & snug!
• The fabric is lightweight & very breathable

Gro Anywhere Blackout Curtain

Laura, one of our sleep experts, recommends the Gro Anywhere Blackout Curtain to all new mamas. She says making sure your baby’s room is pitch black will help signal that it’s bedtime! Light can interfere with melatonin production, so we need to ensure our baby’s room is as dark as possible, helping them to wind down. Plus, they can even travel with you!

Rohm Portable Sound Machine

Woolino Sleep Sacks

Shelby also recommends Woolino Sleep Sacks. The 2-24 month four seasons sleep sack is a one-and-done item. They are really amazing quality, and one Sleep Sack lasted her through both kids.

Tubby Todd

Tubby ToddTubby Todd

Now for a product the whole squad absolutely loves! You won’t use Tubby Todd right away on your newborn, but trust us you want it waiting in the cabinet for when you do need it. Tubby Todd makes some of the best body care products for babies; shampoo, body wash, lotion, and more.

Kate says, “I’ve purchased other soaps and lotions that fall into this same category, and I find that the smell of this product surpasses its competitors. I like it so much, I’ve actually been using the lotion on myself! My son also has extremely sensitive skin (like his Mama), and the lotion, specifically, helps the small rashes he gets on his face and neck during the day, even with the scent (normally I go fragrance-free, but these natural scents are a game-changer).”

Amber also swears by Tubby Todd’s All Over Ointment. This ointment is gentle enough for newborns but works for all ages. When her daughter has Eczema outbreaks, this is her go-to for relief.

A Few More Must-Haves

Of course, we couldn’t make a Rookie Moms Round-Up without consulting our Rookie Moms Facebook Group! Here is what our Facebook Group mamas say are absolute must-haves in the newborn stage.

Every baby and every parent is different, but we hope this list helped you brainstorm some products that will be really important to have around on your first days together!

4moms MamaRoo 4.0 – Is it The Best Rocker? Swing? Bouncer?

4moms MamaRoo 4.0 – Is it The Best Rocker? Swing? Bouncer?

Mamaroo 4.0 ReviewMamaroo 4.0 Review

Being a new mom is hard, but having a newborn and a toddler or more than one toddler is a different level. While I would love to just sit and hold my sweet newborn, sometimes I needed to be able to put him down whether it be to catch a mischievous 3-year-old or to just cook dinner.

While pregnant and preparing for our baby’s arrival, I read through thousands of reviews for rockers and swings and the 4moms mamaRoo 4 kept popping up. Unlike the traditional baby rockers and swings, this one combines all the settings into one seat. It has five movements unlike a rocker that just rockers or a swing that just swings.

So to make sure you don’t waste your money, we wanted to check this thing out.

4moms mamaRoo 44moms mamaRoo 4

Five Unique Motions

The mamaRoo4 has five distinct movements with five different speed settings. The motions are named after what they represent and are fairly accurate in that way.

  • Car Ride: Moves in a figure-8 motion with a little bit of bounce here and there
  • Kangaroo: Bounces forward then backward
  • Tree Swing: Swings from left to right and back
  • Rock-a-Bye: Moves in an arch back and forth
  • Wave: Makes a circle going up, around, and back down

Design Features

The mamaRoo4 has built-in Bluetooth that allows parents to control the seat’s movement with an app. It has four different built-in soothing sounds but also has MP3 option. The seat is adjustable from sitting up to recline. All the fabrics are machine washable and come in three options. It has a mobile on top that has a rattle, mirror, and crinkle ball.

4Moms Mamaroo 4.0 Review4Moms Mamaroo 4.0 Review

Size and weight

It mamaRoo4 is compact measuring 33?L x 19.5?W x 25.5?H and weighs 19 pounds.

What We Love about MamaRoo

Multiple Movements

The unique feature for the mamaRoo4 and the one we love the most is the five different movements. Our 1st child love the motion of the Graco swing, but our 2nd little boy wanted nothing to do with it.

If your baby isn’t into swaying move on to bouncing, continue until you find one they love. These movements are designed to mimic different moves that typically calm a baby.

The five movements include:

  • the car (our little one’s favorite)
  • the kangaroo
  • tree swing
  • rock a bye
  • the wave

MamaRoo4 gets it right that one movement isn’t always the answer and sometimes a baby may like bouncing more than swaying on Tuesday but Wednesday rolls around and all the baby wants is to be swayed.

Easy to Clean – Machine Washable (Hallelujah)

Mamaroo 4.0 ReviewMamaroo 4.0 Review

One of the things I always look for with babies is, “How easy is it to clean?” Maybe it’s just me but if something is machine washable I am here for it. Easy to remove and throw in the wash are musts in our household because I just don’t have time to wash things by hand and also who even wants to do that?

Change Motion Remotely Bluetooth Controls

So this feature is pretty cool Sometimes the baby just needs a change of motion. So, being able to change the motion setting while in another room and your baby in the connected living room is a time saver. I am going to be honest here, I’ve used it while sitting on the couch watching Netflix so I didn’t have to get up.

The one downside to the app, is it can only be paired to one phone at a time. So, if dad wants to use the app, he has to pair it and then when mom wants to use it she will have to pair hers. This was a back and forth struggle so we just stuck with one parent having the app on their phone.

  • Age and Weight Limits: The mamaRoo4 is designed for babies 5 – 25 pounds or until they can sit unassisted. So you will only get around 9 to 15 months of use out of this seat.
  • Mobile: The 2017 version adds touch points—a rattle ball, crinkle ball and a ball with a mirror. They don’t move on their own, which is something that we would like to see
  • Speakers: While present, the speakers are not very loud. The four programmed sounds are all white noise and have no actual music/lullabies. In order to play music, you have to use an AUX cord. If you have Bluetooth and an app available, it would make more sense to me to be able to play music through Bluetooth.
  • Cost: The mamaRoo4 costs $220 for the basic fabric and $250 for the plush and mesh fabrics. If your baby is on the smaller side, you’ll need a newborn insert which is an additional $35. That is pricey for a seat you won’t use after six months.

What is the difference of 4Moms MamaRoo 4.0 versus 3.0

In a word, convenience. The new user interface is much more adaptive. They event made it where you can easily change something with your foot.

Other Changes include:

• Improved fabrics that are softer to the touch, even in the Classic model.

• Upgraded mobile. The MamaRoo 3.0 had a mobile that was basically three balls which did nothing. The 4Moms MamaRoo 4.0 version adds touch points—a rattle ball, crinkle ball and a ball with a mirror. Unfortunately, the mobile doesn’t spin by itself

• App upgrades. When the MamaRoo 3.0 model debuted, it came along with Bluetooth connected app that enabled you to change the motion and speed from your smartphone. 4Moms MamaRoo 4.0 model is more stable and does not drop connection.

What Other Parents Say

The mamaRoo4 is a great addition in our house but here are what other parents had to say about the seat.

4.2 out of 5 Stars (1,665 reviews) on 4moms.com

“I bought this for my grand baby. He loves it. Only 2 days old and it helped with his fuss. Hes 2 weeks old now and still loving it.’ –Nikki

“This is the perfect item for a new mom that has chores or even work from home.” –Wilson

“I have this and a Graco swing. What I like about the mamaRoo is that it’s lightweight and portable. I can quickly move it to another room I need to go to which is perfect for a mom with more than one kid. The only thing that could make this better is if it had battery capability so you aren’t bound to an outlet all the time.” –Kendra

“Love this. Son was in the NICU and they had them and was great for the babies.” – Levi Lynn

4.1 out of 5 Stars (1,450 ratings) on Target.com

“Love this swing! We looked at other swings until finally deciding to go with this one. The price is what held us back at first but, it’s a thousand times worth the investment. Our little one is a spit up baby so the fact that we are able to adjust the actual seat to have her sit up a little more has helped tremendously. I would recommend this to every/anyone.” –Mom of Girls (verified purchase)

“definitely a pricier swing than I ever anticipated buying, but it’s super smooth and quiet and lets my daughter sleep while I get some work done around those house…so I guess that makes it a great deal? Love that I can change the settings via an app vs. reaching for the buttons on the base of the machine while it’s moving.” –EMR26 (verified purchase)

“This worked terrific for my baby. He was having trouble settling down and we would have to put him in the car and ride him around which would put him to sleep right away. Once we got the mamaRoo it took the place of the car ride. As soon as we put him in, he calms down and goes to sleep right of way. We love the mamaRoo!! No regrets!!” – Ellie J (verified purchase)

4.5 out of 5 Stars (3,906 reviews) on Amazon.com

“SOON AS I put my 1 month old little guy in it, he stopped “air swimming.” (flailing arms and legs), not too long after that, his eyes were closed. Usually that only happens when I pick him up. So I hold him most of the time…UNTIL TODAY. I am very happy with this product so far.” –Antonette (verified purchase)

“I have had this mamaroo for less than a week but my whole family already loves it. I am a stay at home mom. I homeschool three kids and have a one month old. My infant is rather fussy/ opinionated about being held and bounced on a yoga ball. If I wasn’t holding him he was screaming. If I got him to sleep and then laid him down he usually woke 30 mins later screaming to be held and bounced. Needless to say I lived on the yoga ball. It made homeschooling difficult to say the least as well as all the other things I needed to do around the house.

“Before the mamaroo I had tried swings and manual bouncers and nothing worked. This was my last ditch effort and I was hesitant because of the price. It is worth it if you have a screamer like I do that needs to be held constantly. Since I have gotten the mamaroo I have had way more time for everything. I’m so excited!!! The one thing I was concerned about was the bouncing motion. Before I got the mamaroo I was bouncing my infant on a yoga ball. He loved that julty movement. I was concerned that the mamaroo wouldn’t be enough of a bounce for him.

Although the mamaroo is not as intense a bounce as the yoga ball at all he loves it. All five different settings are smooth and different. The motions are soothing and are supposed to move like a mommy would. My son prefers the car ride on level five speed which is the fastest it goes. He sleeps longer in the mamaroo and will lay awake in the mamaroo very content. If he does wake during a nap the movement usually lulls him back to sleep.” –Brittney (verified purchase)

What is a big kid stroller?

Mainly, a big kid stroller is a stroller that has a higher weight capacity, which often can include a larger seat and the necessary leg support to keep a child comfortable. Many of the strollers on the current market target the newborn to 2 or 3-year-old range with attachments for a child of walking age to ride on a standing board.

However, there are many children beyond 3 that may still find a stroller useful. This type of stroller commonly has a higher weight capacity, 50 pounds or more, which can typically carry the average 4-year-old.

Types of Big Kid Strollers

Like with any other stroller, big kid strollers come in a variety of designs and types all of which suit different needs. Some of the most common stroller types are included in this top 10 list.

  • Umbrella: these strollers are lightweight and fold quickly like an umbrella. They are simple, minimal, and don’t offer much additional storage.
  • Full stroller: these strollers are the classic stroller design complete with a sunshade and under-seat storage.
  • Jogging: these strollers often have a larger front wheel and are meant to be pushed while running. They can also be useful beyond exercise as they can be more durable and larger than a traditional stroller.

Big Kid Stroller Must-Haves

Many strollers deliver similar functions but when shopping for a stroller specifically for bigger kids consider the following:

  • Weight capacity: you’ll want to make sure your stroller can accommodate your child’s weight. This will ensure the safest ride and also that the stroller will meet your needs.
  • Functional: you’ll want a stroller that collapses easily, has the appropriate storage and accessories as well as seat space and legroom for your child.
  • Accessible: big kids are often on the move so you’ll want a stroller that keeps your child safe but is also easy to get your child in and out of so they can explore and ride.
